Linda Wilcock - Associate Priest
Reverend Linda Wilcock was licenced as an Associate Priest to the Melbury Team in 2012, having served for many years as a Licenced Lay Minister and Curate. Linda said, “It a real privilege to be able to bring God’s word to our rural community. One of the joys is meeting so many people in the different parts of the Benefice and really getting to know them. I enjoy being a small part of people’s lives at the beginning, through thanksgiving, baptism, and a variety of services including marriage, and at the end, through funerals.
It is a joy to be able to take services of Holy Communion both in church services and in the privacy of peoples’ homes (including Cheverals Care Home in Maiden Newton). I love sharing the festival celebrations throughout the Benefice, as well as our Team services that give opportunities to come together to worship.
The pastoral side of the role is very important to me. I am fortunate to be part of a Team Ministry that accepts women priests. During this vacancy I am acting as a stipendiary minister. The main challenge is organising my time and learning to say NO sometimes!
BUT when God calls I need to respond and hopefully through the Holy Spirit I am able to fulfil my role.”
